Basically, Journée du Patrimoine is a weekend where all the museums are free, there are special events held, and many things closed to the public during the year are open. Pretty cool. I bet shit gets crazy in Paris.
Anyways, we got a late start, but the theater is so amazing. My amateur photo skills don't pick up on the beauty, but here are my pictures.
Cathedral
Amazing. You can read a tiny background on it here
Umm...
That evening there was some sort of performance happening at the Palais Gallien, these ancient roman ruins by my house. My friend Edouard lives right across the street from the ruins so we went to the event together. I honestly don't even know what to tell you I saw, or even how to begin haha. It was some serious art that my closed mind couldn't grasp. I will try to explain it to you.
There was this girl dancing, but it was more like she was just rolling around in the dirt.. and leaves and dirt were flying everywhere. Then there was this scraping sound on these speakers. I started to giggle in the beginning because I was like... What the Fuck???? And some people gave me a dirty look haha. Then I wondered if this was perhaps a french thing. So I looked at Edouard and looked just as confused as me, so that was a relief.
There was a cool part where they projected on the ruins this girl in a white dress dancing while this man played the violin in front of us. It was really pretty. Then it went back to the weird dance in the dirt. And this girl was climbing on the ruins and I was so afraid she was going to fall. They had to tell the audience when it was over, because no one had a clue. Then we all clapped.
Crazy shit.
